Akutan AK electrician on power line poleThere are three general options to obtain electrician training in a technical or vocational school near Akutan AK. You may choose a diploma or certificate program, or obtain an Associate Degree. Bachelor’s Degrees are offered at certain schools, but are not as common as the other three options. Often these programs are offered together with an apprenticeship, which are mandated by most states to be licensed or if you want to earn certification. Bellow are brief descriptions of the three most common programs available.

  • Certificate and Diploma Programs are generally offered by Alaska trade and technical schools and take approximately a year to complete. They furnish a good foundation and are geared towards those who want to enter an apprenticeship more quickly as a journeyman electrician.
  • Associate Degree Programs involve 2 years to finish and are offered by Alaska community colleges, commonly as an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology. They furnish a more well-rounded education while supplying the foundation that prepares students to begin their apprenticeship program.

As earlier stated, Bachelor’s Degree programs are available at certain Alaska colleges, but are less favored at 4 years than the other shorter programs.
