Mountain Village AK electrician on power line poleThere are three general options to get electrician training in a trade or technical school near Mountain Village AK. You may enroll in a certificate or diploma program, or earn an Associate Degree. Bachelor’s Degrees are available at some schools, but are not as common as the other three options. Often these programs are made available in conjunction with an apprenticeship, which are required by the majority of states to become licensed or if you want to earn certification. Following are short summaries of the 3 most typical programs offered.

  • Diploma and Certificate Programs are typically offered by Alaska trade and technical schools and require about a year to finish. They provide a good foundation and are aimed towards students who wish to join an apprenticeship faster as a journeyman electrician.
  • Associate Degrees involve 2 years to complete and are offered by Alaska community colleges, commonly as an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology. They furnish a more extensive education while supplying the foundation that readies students to enter into their apprenticeship program.

As previously stated, Bachelor’s Degrees are offered at some Alaska institutions, but are less popular at four years than the other briefer programs. The majority of states mandate that an apprenticeship of no less than 2 years and in most cases 4 years be performed prior to licensing.
