Electrician Diploma, Certificate and Degree Programs

Larned KS electrician on power line poleThere are multiple approaches to obtain electrician instruction in a technical or vocational school near Larned KS. You can choose a diploma or certificate program, or earn an Associate Degree. Bachelor’s Degrees are offered at a few schools, but are not as prevalent as the other three alternatives. Often these programs are made available in conjunction with an apprenticeship program, which are required by most states in order to become licensed or if you want to become certified. Following are short descriptions of the 3 most typical programs offered.

  • Certificate and Diploma Programs are typically provided by Kansas technical and trade schools and require approximately a year to finish. They provide a good foundation and are geared towards individuals who want to join an apprenticeship more quickly as a journeyman electrician.
  • Associate Degrees take 2 years to finish and are provided by Kansas junior or community colleges, typically as an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology. They offer a more comprehensive education while supplying the foundation that prepares students to enter into their apprenticeship program.

As previously mentioned, Bachelor’s Degree programs are accessible at some Kansas colleges, but are less popular at four years than the other shorter programs. The majority of states require that an apprenticeship of no less than 2 years and in most cases four years be carried out before licensing.
