Electrician Degree, Certificate and Diploma Options

Galata MT electrician on power line poleThere are several options to receive electrician training in a trade or technical school near Galata MT. You may choose a certificate or diploma program, or obtain an Associate Degree. Bachelor’s Degrees are obtainable at a few schools, but are not as prevalent as the first three options. In many cases these programs are offered together with an apprenticeship, which are required by the majority of states in order to become licensed or if you wish to earn certification. Bellow are short explanations of the three most typical programs available.

  • Certificate and Diploma Programs are usually offered by Montana technical and trade schools and require approximately a year to complete. They provide a solid foundation and are aimed towards individuals who would like to join an apprenticeship more quickly as a journeyman electrician.
  • Associate Degrees involve 2 years to finish and are provided by Montana junior or community colleges, typically as an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology. They offer a more comprehensive education while providing the foundation that prepares students to join their apprenticeship program.

As earlier mentioned, Bachelor’s Degrees are offered at some Montana institutions, but are less preferred at four years than the other shorter programs. The majority of states require that an apprenticeship of no less than 2 years and in most cases four years be carried out prior to licensing. For that reason, many students are anxious to begin their paid apprenticeship, particularly if it’s not a component of their academic program.
